Coaching

When a client enters a coaching process, they are entering into a journey of exploration, discovery, and practice. In 1-1 coaching, I work with clients in private sessions to clarify the goals and outcomes they are looking to create, establish a process to achieve them, and manage their progress toward achieving results. The process of coaching helps to examine a client’s manner of engagement, guiding them to help make any necessary changes to more clearly align with their intended goals.I work to help clients keep what is serving them, and let go of what is not.

There are three pillars to my approach to coaching: curiosity, embodiment, and practice.

    • Curiosity: exploring who we actually are, what drives us, and what we really want is a fundamental step in improving our lives. Through questions, conversation, introspection, journaling, and other techniques, I work with clients to help them gain clarity about the life they are living, the life they desire to live, and the gap that exists between the two.
    • Embodiment: our physical bodies provide us with a wealth of information; by understanding how to listen to our bodies, we can deepen our intuition and improve our physical and mental health. Through various techniques, including posture, movement, breath, visualization, sound, and attention, I work with clients to help them discover what their bodies feel and what that means. Through this process, clients develop greater awareness of their physical bodies.
    • Practice: coaching involves exploring new ways of being, which often involves new patterns of thought and new behaviors. At first, these changes may feel odd or even challenging, but through conscious and consistent practice, we are able to develop new habits. By bringing discipline and focusing our attention, we are able to step into the new selves we seek to become. With practice, clients can create stronger boundaries, use clear and powerful communication, and engage in powerful relationships that are mutually beneficial.

Coaching is not therapy because it does not focus on mental health issues, nor does it attempt to address them. (If you have any mental health concerns that require medical support, you should consider pursuing coaching work only in conjunction with a mental health professional like a therapist or psychiatrist.)
